It's the first card longer than the width of an ATX mobo!

So, last hardware implementation question remaining: How many dice?
Personally, as I think 2 is just to boring a guess, I'm going to throw out all logic and reasoning and suggest up to 4 seperate ICs of two different kinds. |

The length of the card could cause alot of problems for people with smaller cases. It is so long that is it going to run into the hard drives in alot of cases. I generally buy a top of the line video card every 2 or 3 years so I am still a couple of years off from upgrading again.

This is getting ridiculous. They better work on reducing those process sizes, and fast.
Pretty soon I'll have to call an electrician to install a freakin' 30amp twistlock in the wall next to my machine. |

Didn't I read something recently that predicted a near-future nVidia card with 768 MB of RAM? With a 128-bit interface to 256 MB of it, and a 256-bit interface to the other 512?
EDIT: Yes I did. I didn't read it here, but this is what google turned up: http://www.mikeshardware.co.uk/RoadmapQ406.htm That would be consistent with the 12 mounting points for memory chips. |

Wait, I think these images are photoshopped. Notice that in the images where the heatsink is on top of the PCB you can see the floor. Nice try, though.

Is it just me, or did it look like the water cooling pipe doesn't actually go anywhere on the card? Looks like it just goes in, does a U-turn, and then right back out. At least from the pictures I saw.

One word: Behemoth.
I'll wait until the second gen. of DX10 cards that will (hopefully) mirror the change from the 7900 GX -> 7950 GX2. |

G80 better deliver a massive performance boost over a single 7900GTX or its sheer cooling and power requirements is a big turndown.
Edit: If the tracings on the back are any indication, the GPU packaging is huge! I wouldn't be surprised if G80 is larger by area then G70! |

R600 @ 250W, now this thing. I'm going to get rich selling my patented on-board, USB powered fire-extinguishing system.

Gosh is that my Voodoo5? The power connectors are in the right spot. The size is right.... Cooling seems different somehow......

I don't know if anyone else caught it, but the fan connector has 4 pins, must have linear fan control like the new 4pin intel heatsinks.

Now it's looking like I wasn't so dumb suggesting that it made sense for them to incorporate a system that could utilize water or air cooling. I believe the comments last time this came up said that it was simply not going to happen, when it looks more and more like such is the case.
I feel slightly vindicated :) |
