Next Sony'll say that the Wii costs an infinite amount of money in comparison since it will be impossible to play HD content on it.
Of course, if this marketing scheme works, Sony is amazing. |

The PS3 and Xbox 360 are both bad choices. Defending Microsoft's sleaziness over Sony's greediness is stupid.
Microsoft is using a common business strategy to get people to pay more than they want to. Rather than offer one good choice at a fair price with the full set of features, they offer two bad choices. 1. Choice one is enticingly cheap but a bad value. 2. Choice two is too expensive but the best value. A lot of people who choose the first option to save money will eventually pay extra for the add-ons, so they end up spending more they wanted to. People who choose the second option have already paid more than they wanted to, in order to get the best value. |

Calm down you morons.
Sony is right. Sony is comparing the cost of a $299 Xbox 360 plus the cost of the extras that match (or come close to) the features of a $499 PS3. In other words, if you want a HD drive, a hard drive, on-line play, and a wireless controller the PS3 will be cheaper. The $399 Xbox 360 system plus on-line play, and HD-DVD would be $50 more than the $599 PS3. Even then, the HD-DVD drive isn't for games and the PS3 is more powerful. There are a lot of Xbox 360 owners who will end up paying more than PS3 owners. |

The PS3 and Xbox 360 are both bad choices. So you're telling us to get a Wii? And all this time I thought you were a Sony fanboi. |

i have the xbox 360 premuim system and i'd hardly call 30 days of live a free live subscription. 50 dollars will get u another year, so there's something to be said for free online gaming.

I know some people that would pay more then $698 just as long as it has the names 'Sony' and 'PS3' on the front. Crap I could sell them my old P4 as long as it had that and a decent emulator. *shakes head*

"Xbox 360 costs $698, says Sony 'fact sheet'"
Wrong. Xbox 360 plus add-ons costs $698 says Sony fact sheet (no quotes because it's true). $199 more than the $499 PS3. The $399 Xbox 360 plus add-ons costs $648. $149 more than the $499 PS3. If you want the features of the PS3 the $499 PS3 is the better than either Xbox. Also, the title "Xbox 360 costs $698, says Sony 'fact sheet'" leaves out information to sound more negative. Which is the same thing the post criticizes Sony for doing. "Do as I say, not as I do." |

Screw games, I want a $20,000 cell based server running Yellow Dog for only $600. When people ask what servers my company is using I can say "Playstations". ;-)
http://news.com.com/IBM+shows+Cell+blade+in+action/2100-1010_3-6048... "The Cell chip, which was designed by IBM, Sony and Toshiba, will also power Sony's PlayStation3 game console. " |

Sony forgot:about:
HD cables - neither 500 nor 600$ version ships with ANY HD cable [component or HDMI] X360 Pro has component in standard. 480 *i* FTW! TV pilot - HD-DVD addon has it - you need to buy Sony [bluetoth] one for both PS3's. 25$ Cost of joypads for PS3 with *non replecable* baterries - *Sony developer* estimated 1-2 years of lifespan - then you NEED to buy new one - 50$ [see : http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/ps3/ps3-peripheral-prices-announced-20... "I was talking to one of the Sony developers tonight about the life of the Sixaxis controller. I asked him how long one will last before it has to be tossed because the battery just won't take a charge anymore. He said one to two years. That is both, I believe, a wild ass guess and a HUGE spread." ] Free online - yes - but premium price on games especialy downloadable ones. And GT HD - 900$ for a full game LOL http://www.1up.com/do/my1Up?publicUserId=5519593 "3:00 p.m.John Smedley from SOE is talking about the online store and championing the ability to use third party middleware for online solutions (like Xfire). The PlayStation store has an API that allows gamemakers to build the stores directly into the game, "it will allow people to buy car parts." Oh, the future is grim." |

Paying any attention to Sony's comments is a waste of time. T
hey just need to shut up, release the ps3, do some good marketing and kiss gamers butt. All MS has to do for the christmas season is to offer a $50 mail in rebate for both the core and premium systems and both Nintendo and Sony would have something to worry about. |

PS3 is cheaper if you get the current Xbox 360 Prenium and HD-DVD add-on. The catch is that HD-DVD add-on is only going to use to play HD-DVD movies i.e no game titles. They are also some indications that second revision of the 360 will use a bulid-in HD-DVD and have HDMI.

The "requires users to buy" could be interpreted as "if someone were dumb enough to buy a 360 Core System, and then found they wanted to make it on a level with a base PS3, they'd be required to buy these". Same with the Wii except for the fact that several things aren't even optional. They can explain the lack of the listing of the 360 Premium as being that they were comparing the lowest-price versions of each system, despite the fact that the lowest price PS3 is the same price as the 360 Premium, and that it only needs 1 add-on to equal the higher-price PS3.
Of course there's no way to explain the items that they claim require a hard drive or memory which don't. |

Thank god I am only getting a Wii for this current generation of consoles. I have bought every single console that has came out since the Nes. However with these current prices and crap ass titles, I'll be spending my cash on my PC for games.

Aside from the obvious rediculousness of their claims what i am more interested in is what Vole can actually force Sony to do after going through court. Sony is clearly misleading the consumers.
The question is 1) Do people have enough knowledge to know this is rubbish? 2) Is there even going to be enough PS3's in stock to offer the consumer a choice comes Xmas? |

They should have factored in the extended warranty price for the 360. It will be interesting to see the PS3's fatality rate.

They didn't say it that it does.
It requires the add-ons to match the PS3's features. Why would they say that you need an HD-DVD add-on, that won't be used for games, in order to play games?
"...$598—still $100 below Sony's quoted figure..."
And still $99 above a $499 PS3 and that doesn't include the annual $50 Live fee (after the 1st month is over).
"...the Xbox 360 "pricey""
That's true. In terms of cost/quality(i.e. features) the PS3 is cheaper.
