Who freaking cares anymore? HD-DVD and Blue-Ray will end-up being still born akin to SACD versus DVD-A battle. Only hardcore videophilles are willing to spend the prenium of adoption for ether format.

Average joe still thinks DVD9 is good enough for his needs without spending the big $$$$ on a HDTV and player. By the time HD-DVD and Blue-Ray will become cheap, Sony and somebody else will do another wave of ugly format wars.

I personally think that mainstream broadband and digtial cable are going to kill phyiscal media. The nastiness of DMCA will help the MPAA and RIAA to kill the middleman and establish a large scale pay-per-view scheme.

How hard can it be to produce blue laser diodes en masse? Surely they're just another form of semiconductor?

Sony seems to have miscalculated something wrong badly there...

I would actually consider this the third delay since they first said the PS3 was to be released Spring of '06.
