I wonder how many of the 'I'd love to give the artists money' people have done so. It wouldn't be very hard to send some money to an artist in an anonymous way. My guess at how many of those people have done this: zero, because it's just lip service to justify getting the stuff for free.

the wonders of international law enforcement, US says hop and others jump... lovely... we already have a world government, it is only that it's elected by just 300 million people living in north america and not by all 6+billion. :shrugs:

Well not before time. Let's be under no illusion as to AllOfMP3's game plan: rip off music and sell it whilst paying absolutely no royalties to any musicians. There is more moral value in downloading music for nothing and not paying anyone at all, than handing over your hard-earned to this bunch of Internet pirates and feeling that what one was doing was somehow made legitimate because you were parting with cash.

Meh... Another site will replace that one in a month anyways, and I hope they are very successful and take away lots and lots of money from the RIAA.

Note to world-trade happy governments: demand enforcement of laws in applicant country which go along with fair trade as part of entry into the WTO *before* having a massive trade deficit.

In other news, the founders of the popular Russian music service have been found dead of acute radiation poisoning. President Putin is quoted as saying, "I'm shocked, shocked at this horrible news!".

I guess they're screwed unless they move to another country that doesn't recognise copyright.
I read a story on the Register suggesting that because of the new US net gambling laws places that used to host the sites now don't have to respect US held IP. Personally I'd rather run a business in Antigua than Russia any day. here's a link: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/11/21/antigua_wto_bet/ |
