Hrm, I have to agree with an author whose name I forget who suggested that making a differently-styled version available on the commercial market would help to reduce the black market of people who'll want to resell these things, though. If enough people want to buy them, the scarcity could drive prices for those that end up on eBay quite high, prompting families to want to sell the laptop instead of using it for education.

meh, buy a decent laptop and then donate an XO to a kid... i don't see the point in buying something that crippled considering the alternatives on the market
