Too bad DRAM memory prices haven't changed at all.

DDR2 of course, has gone down in price. Which is bull because I just bought a Socket939 motherboard last year, god damn it.

This is very good news for me. I am planning to build a new system to replace my 4 year old Pentium 4 2.8 ghz, and I want to outfit my new machine with 4 GB of RAM. With the latest Intel price cuts, it looks like I can build a new machine for under 1000. Only problem is choosing which OS to run, Vista or XP...

I just built a computer in December and the ram I bought is less than half what I paid for it. I felt both used, a desire to upgrade to 6 gigs.

Wonder if it will be like the great DRAM depression of '00 - I remember a day when 128M sticks of pc-133 were 1$ w/ 10$ shipping - you could get hi quaility ram - 256M was bout 30$. So in todays terms, 2 gig kits would need to hit about 50 bux : )

Heck this is good for me... thinking I'm probably gonna upgrade my laptop to 2GB over the summer and try vista on it (dual boot maybe). Currently sitting at 1.25GB (1.12 after video sucks away what it wants), so it might be nice to have almost 2GB available to me. I don't even wanna try Vista on it without at least 2GB though... even though it will only be running the 32bit version.

On that note, it would be nice of DDR prices would fall a little more also... there are still a ton of people out there that are running DDR. Me and my Dad for starters... along with all those socket 939-ers out there.

Oh well... at least my laptop is running DDR2, so that's good for me anyways! Desktop already has 3GB in it... so I'm set till i build a new rig :)

Who knows... maybe i will just skip DDR2 on the desktop realm all together and skip right over to DD3!

And the memory cycle repeats, yet again. This happens pretty much everytime a new memory standard is introduced: prices are high initially, as mfrs try to recoup their investement; drop somewhat and then stabilize for a while as new suppliers more or less balance increasing demand; then prices plummet as supply begins to significantly exceed demand. Cue up a new memory standard, and repeat. Hello DDR3

Umm. How does $2.57 x 4 = $82.24.

Nevermind, it's Mbit, not MByte.
