To me, the words "online video" conjure up visions of low resolution, over-compressed, and jerky crap. The companies offering these downloads need to do something to address that image before I'll cough up the dough.

This reminds me of when people thought regular T.V. would never take off in the 1920's.

I hate the fact that theres ONE show on some pay channels I want to watch. I want to see This American Life on Showtime and Entourage on HBO. I'm not gonna subscribe to the whole channel for ONE show. I wish TAL was available on iTunes.

Personally, the inability to burn a movie I buy from the iTunes store to a DVD is what kills it for me. If I could burn it (even just once) I'd be happier with my purchase.

I wish I could get paid to spew the crap analysts do. It doesn't take a genius or a degree for those kind of statements.

It seems that this report is designed to be contraversial. I think it is very, very hard to predict the future given that online (legal) video distribution is still in its infancy.

I'm not going to try to predict who will win and lose. I'll just say that if iTunes had a broader selection of TV shows, I'd probably ditch cable TV altogether (or at least scale it back to basic) and buy all TV shows off of iTunes.

I really hate watching commercials, and so I'd be very happy to pay for the privilege of avoiding ads. I suspect there are others like me, but I don't know how many.

I have to say, though, that when analysts say that people are happy to get free content with ads, I flashback to them saying how people would prefer to use a music subscription service rather than buy their music. I think they had some pessimistic forecasts for how iTunes would do compare to Napster et al. I wonder how that worked out... ;-)

ROFL, I bet that these analysts are on Sony and Tobisha's payroll.

So basicly... it will fail cuz they say it will fail? They don't give any reasons for it... the stuff fox has online for free I can't watch on my TV, I can't watch on my iPod or any other PMP... I can't watch it if i don't have net access. Why would a streaming only video format put me off from buying something I can 'own' and watch on a plethora of devices/
