Yeah I am sure all the record labels will be watching sales very closely. I did read one little blurb today that the iTunes user name is embeded in the song files. I wonder how many people will get nailed for sharing the unprotected songs ? I could care less if my user name is embedded in the track I dont plan on sharing them with anyone I just want to be able to put the songs on whatever device I want.

I love how they gamble with DRM, and when it fails, their backup plan is to charge more to sell our rights back to us, a win-win either way, making a premium look like a steal due to the crappy alternative ;)
But at least no DRM, good, lets look at the bright side of this Mafia's decision, I mean at least they're finally starting to give up on their bullheaded DRM stance. Maybe later they'll be pressured into dropping prices instead of raising them like they did with CDs that they promised to make cheaper instead as media prices go down. |

Its about damn time that I can buy DRM free music on the internet. When all you want to do is grab a song or two off most albums it makes buying the entire CD to expensive. On top of that when you upgrade hardware and forget to deauthorize the computer before you do it makes iTunes have a fit. I hope everything on iTunes goes this route ASAP

iTunes is getting hammered. Although it did report that I could upgrade 7 songs on me account. I just cant upgrade yet - will have to try later. I hate to see what would happen later tonight when peeps get home and try to upgrade.
Edit - managed to get in and upgraded. Painless process. |
