High-powered firearms would probably rip right through the aluminum casing, too, but I live in Canada, and we're armed only with excessive politeness.
You mean you didn't pelt it with Timbits? Nothing can survive a pelting of Timbits. Oh, and too bad it wasn't winter. Then you could throw this on the ice, and use it as a hockey puck. If it stands up to a good game of Canadian hockey, then it'll stand up to anything. |

"For one final challenge, we ran over the Survivor with a car. Well, a two-door Honda Civic, to be exact."
I don't think Diss can afford a Hummer with what he makes at TR. :-\ (Do correct me if I'm mistaken, Diss.) Besides, he's a 'green' kinda guy, into biking and all that. Maybe a boulder? This is what gratuitous wrote. edit: I meant it to be a reply, c'est la vie. |

lol, nice.
Gotta love tidbits like this off to the side on a hardware review site. Completely different from the norm and interesting to read. Perhaps all hardware should be subjected to the same series of tests? |

Next flash drive I get will be one of these. I'll gladly pay the price premium.
FWIW I'd think the three story drop to pavement would be the most grueling test. FWIW2, I've put my regular ol' flash drive through the wash several times and it still works fine. |

Awsome blog post Geoff.
I have been looking at the 16GB normal Corsair myself. 16GB FTW!!!! This seems like a perfect companion for a Panasonic Tough Book. Speaking of that, any idea if the GT is actually made to any kind of militray spec? What is Rugged ? MIL-STD (Military Standard) or MIL-SPEC (Military Specification) The MIL-STD specification is a series of guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Defense in order to define specific performance and manufacturing requirements for all types of equipment. In most cases, products must be designed in accordance with the MIL-STD to be considered acceptable for use by the U.S. Department of Defense. A product’s MIL-STD compliance is also a consideration for many state and local governments when purchasing mobile computers for use in public safety, emergency services, maintenance, etc. The MIL- STD 810F standard was released on January 1, 2000 (superseded MIL-STD 810E). MIL STD 810F includes testing protocols to simulate environmental stresses from rain, humidity, salt fog, sand/dust, vibration, shock, temperature, etc. http://www.toughbookindia.com/what%20is%20rugged1-MIL-STD-810F.html |
