Modular, quiet and efficient - sounds good - albeit a bit crazy on the output - 850 is still mind blowing to me.

Wow...give me two of these...a killer nic.....that ageis card, quad SLI and some water cooled RAM baby!!! 3dmark 2001 and Quake 3 would fly off my screen!!!

$250 is a bit salty.
Remember the days of $100 power supplies being OUTRAGEOUS? And you could get something nice and decent for $45-50... now you need to spend at least $65 to get something that isn't going to explode in short order. |

I still think "go fast" stripes on a PSU are silly, but I do like that you can easily identify its nominal output at any distance.

At $250, it's a tough call. Thermaltake's ToughPower 850w and Enermax's Galaxy 850w are both close in price, and both are highly rated. Most people who need a power supply this heavy-duty are likely to buy the best, rather than the best price.
Since most of us probably don't need 850 watts though, you could save a bundle going with a quality 550-720w unit.
