I was very shocked to hear samsungs new 1TB disk will be using THREE platters,........
Damn I wouldn't mind their 666GB disk or 667, only 2 platters, surely 2 platters and not being mainstream like seagate might mean lower costs? I need a sub 150$ drive over 600gb damnit. |

noise levels as low as 27dB
That's nice that they tell us the noise level at it's quietest. Unfortunately that don't mean jack squat. |

How much space does this drive actually have? Manufacturer size vs OS reported size gets quite ridiculous in this range, even when ignoring file system overhead.
How about headlines with the manufacturer reported/advertised drive size in quotes? |

Nice to see Seagate finally getting in the 1TB game. I almost always buy Seagates with 5-year warranties however, My last HDD purchase was a 320GB WD AAKS just to see if its true about it having way better performance. I didn't really notice at all. I think I will stick with the 5 year warranty.

Nice to hear.
Now the 750GB Seagates should really drop in price, with used ones coming up at prices that are a steal. :) |
