In short do you think this laptop Toshiba A215-S4757 is worthwhile or not. Has anyone reviewed it? Are there heat issues. Glad for any help. The price is good.

How come all those 64bit capable laptops still ship with 32bit Windows? Any logical reason behind this?

AMD is just starting to get some traction out if it's ATI acquistion. AMD has a mobile chipset drawing just 7 watts, yet including an x700 (ati) graphics engine.
Combined with the 65nm Turions, it's a lower power offering than Centrino, and it has better graphics. Notice AMD got Dell and Toshiba after C2D came out? Make you wonder? |

Consumer demand? I thought (and still think) that Turions suck. I'm not an Intel fanboy, it's just that when it comes to portable PCs, a Centrino package/Core 2 based notebook is just a...smarter decision. AMD's never been ideal for notebooks, not even when they were ruling the desktop/server world with A64s/Optys while Intel was asleep.

The bad news about this announcement is the weight of these things - starting at 6.29 pounds... yikes, you can count me out.

A 250GB hard drive on an otherwise-pedestrian machine is kind of odd. I'd bet people are willing to trade down to 120 to save some dough.

The extra money also bumps you up from Home Premium x86 to Ultimate x86. And a fingerprint reader.
