IBM are booming and are flush right now....they should buy AMD and go up against Intel and NVidia.
AMD gets billions in cold cash and technical wizardry for their CPUs and the graphics division goes all out to defeat NVidia. Intel V IBM.....for the heavyweight title. |

Whew. I think the profits from ATI (good sales to OEMs with 2400/2600) is saving AMD from the money-losing CPU business to breaking even.
Here's to hoping Barcelona will help them out in the new year. |

Maybe they'll eventually learn that if they tell it how it is likely to happen, the news stories blow over quickly.
Instead by keeping quiet about progress, then making ambitious claims about delivery dates, the news stories and rumours keep recurring all the time, and bringing the late product to everybody's attention. Every date that is potentially misses brings another heap of stories. And people give up. |

Chipset division also lost overall marketshare, but that is primarily from the Intel side. The AMD supporting side of chipsets actually increased by a small amount.
