90nm? This baby is gonna warm up like a Netburst P4 chip, and AMD dosen't have Intel's marketing department to compensate.
They should be upping the cache to improve performance instead, the die-shrink to 65nm must leave some space on the AM2 package, maybe if AMD went to 4mb cache it could better match the C2D clock for clock. |

"Black Edition"? That's just inane. At least when you get a mainboard or video card, a car or anything else with a special branding like that, the product itself is actually different somehow. Colored PCB, special heatsink, celebrity-designed seat covers, something. Not just a different color box. Hard to know whether they're charging extra for the "special edition" or not of course, since it's also going to be so overpriced just for being the newest and fastest, but it's still just silly marketing.
Not every damn thing needs to be "eXtreme", Ultra, or Special Edition. Kinda funny how they're stretching out the 90nm process. And keep making Athlons with 1MB cache. Intel's just raping them at the high-end and AMD just keeps throwing anything they can come up with into the situation. |

800mhz faster than my 4600+ w/ twice the cache. Shame I can't think of any practical reason to upgrade. I need a new vid card first.

I'll be looking forward to reading the specs and performance numbers on that. A last hurrah for 90nm?
Cool box. |

Took them long enough to accumulate really cherry-picked parts?

AMD deserves it's quick death.
