Floppies are still INCREDIBLY useful for a number of reasons:
-CD-based unattended installs 2000/XP where the WINNT.SIF needs to be on a floppy. -Many of the best diagnostic utilities only work off of boot floppies, especially the old ones that still work and have never been updated -Ghost if the machine isn't capable or doesn't want to boot off a USB thumb drive. (Ghost 8, the last REAL Ghost, won't boot off of a CD) And a whole host of reasons more. When I need to fix a machine, I cringe when I see that there's no floppy. I usually plug in a USB floppy drive and pray the machine can boot off of it. |
