Floppies are still INCREDIBLY useful for a number of reasons:

-CD-based unattended installs 2000/XP where the WINNT.SIF needs to be on a floppy.

-Many of the best diagnostic utilities only work off of boot floppies, especially the old ones that still work and have never been updated

-Ghost if the machine isn't capable or doesn't want to boot off a USB thumb drive. (Ghost 8, the last REAL Ghost, won't boot off of a CD)

And a whole host of reasons more. When I need to fix a machine, I cringe when I see that there's no floppy. I usually plug in a USB floppy drive and pray the machine can boot off of it.

I don't know much about Intel's chipset. Can any one guide me here ?? Will my Q6600 work on this mobo along with DDR3 ??

being that P35 boards which support DDR3 are compatible with your 6600 I have to assume that tey will.
