I have a $100 MSI 8600 GT that does 750/1000. It is even the passive kind. I put a near-silent 80mm on that cooler and the card never gets above 56 C or so now lol.
I couldn't believe how far it overclocked. I didn't even buy it for gaming primarily. Just wanted a silent, cool, and fairly low-power video card for a always on desktop. |

The 2900gt, if priced right, could be the 8600gts killer that's been lacking. Pricing will be important.
This card should have planned one of these from the start IMO. |

I'd seriously consider buying a 2900GT to replace an aging 7800GT, provided it runs cool and relatively quiet. With a single slot cooler, of course. Oh, and it has to cost $150-$170. And it has to be relatively close to the 8800GTS in terms of performance. Yeah, I want a midrange card like they used to make them.

Unless that card is less than $175, or even $150, I don't see why anyone would want one. It won't have UVD, it's been crippled and it will still probably require a small nuke plant to power it.
Seems like a real "we hope people buy it without thinking" type of deal. But I'd still like to see benchmarks on it, even if I have no interesting in buying one. |

I wonder if it has occurred to any of the marketers that there are other numbers below "9". I mean, I think "2800" might work. The 2900 Pro becomes the 2800 Pro, and this GT becomes the 2800.
Wait, what am I thinking *smacks self on forehead* this would make sense. We can't have that now. |
