I'm sure the six or seven people out there with rigs that can do this game justice are happy to hear this. :P

Okay, I'm clearly in the minority here, but I think this game is awesome. I didn't play Far Cry, though, so maybe I'd be a little less excited about it if I had.

It looks amazing and I love the suit and the technology so far. My biggest complaint, more than anything, is that they made the bad guys hard to kill, but not very smart. Flipping that around would be awesome. But otherwise I've been having a lot of fun playing the first level. My framerate isn't stellar, but it's more than playable for the kind of game this is, IMHO--sneaking around sniping people isn't the Unreal 3 type of experience where framerate is everything. I'm running at 1650x1280 or whatever with most of the options on high, but with shadows and water and one other thing I'm forgetting running on medium. No AA, 8x AF. Looks fab.

My ideas:
If you cloak, the AI should just spray the last area it saw you with bullets.

I like the idea of North Koreans on tropical islands. I imagine they deserve it, and the idea that they want to kill people who interrupt that fun is a good plot.

Stereotypes of "grunts" have to have different accents and ethnicities, while your character sounds like a butler. This way we can distinguish that we are SMRT because we SURVIVE LONGER.

let's not forget despite all the bickering and "OMG this is FARCRY REVISITED" comments and overall condescending views by most it REACHED GOLD status...

it didn't get chosen as best PC game of E3 for nothing(correct me if i'm wrong)...even if its a tech demo so what...it did become a game didn't it? each game has it's day...i don't want to upset people from different game "camps" but seriously don't compare with games you love coz that is just plain biased

i think HL2 has something to offer and Crysis as well...different styles of gaming...different game engines...the least of your worries would be barrels bobbing in the water or the realism of it breaking the surface...you should concentrate on what the game is there for...killing NK's and uncovering aliens...that is the objective of the game

i know realism is a must for some but you can't have everything in this world...Crysis will shine coz of the nanosuit, and HL2 because of it being a successor to the original HL...thats all there is to it

In real life silencers do not effect the ballistics of the bullet. A silencer is just a large expansion chamber that gives the gases that propel the bullet out of the barrel a palce to expand so there is no loud popping noise. By the time the expanding gases do exit the silencer they have pretty much slowed down and are done expanding. Guns with silencers generally fire sub-sonic amunition so that there is no sonic boom that may be where alot of people get the idea that silenced guns are less powerful. Alot goes into engineering a silencer but thats pretty much how they work.

It's nice how fast the naysayers post. Except for the tasteful Voodoo Rush post, of course.

I'm looking forward to the game. It may be an awful lot like a refined FarCry, but I don't really have any problems with that. I think the storyline alone is enough to entertain me. Factor in those visuals and the, well, refined FarCry experience, and I think this is a winner.

I admit too that I have a certain unrelenting fascination with the ability to smash things/dwellings. Punching down walls / throwing dumpsters through them is a neat little mini-game. Launch animals 50 ft into the air.... Go bash the crap out of some guy's hummer....etc etc. I like how the vehicles drive in this too. And there are lots of vehicles....

I was quite happy gaming on my 7900GT on medium settings, but very UN-happy with how the game played out. The horrible inaccuracy of the gun, the fact that simple communist soldiers have more body armor than a tank, the generally stupidness of the AI, physics that looked weak when compared to HL2. These were big things that made the game less than pleasant for me.

NON-LINEAR GAMEPLAY?!?!?!

The demo was the definition of linear. Sure, you can sneak by clusters of enemies but the gameplay as a whole is scripted. Its a good story though and the acting is pretty good. I hope that damn Aussie gets killed early on too.

A shame, considering the shoddy work.
