I wonder if it has a de-interlacer on the DVI/HDMI port.

awesome, the original 30" dell only has one DVI-D input on it IIRC which doesn't really cut the mustard if you've got a lot of stuff you want to connect. KVMs with DVI are friggin expensive also, so it's good to have a few ports to choose from on the monitor. Two DVI-D ports on the 3008 is just what the doctor ordered, plus HDMI of course. One thing which would also be useful is HDMI passthrough so you can connect your receiver to the display for sound output. Since it already looks like the I/O panel is bursting at the seams one could forgive Dell for not including that feature.

Does the new Dell have any kind of scaler built in?

The Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen High-Definition LCD Flat-Panel Display just got rave reviews in MaxPC.

http://www.gateway.com/accessories/product/1541272R.php?seg=hm

They said something about it having a awsome scaler, and 114% color reproduction or some such. They even said the speaker bar didnt sound half bad.

Anyway, no display port, but who cares about the display port if the rest of it is mediocre?

EDIT:

COOL!
MaxPC has the article online now:

I thought one of the advantages of display port was that it had less hardware requirements than other connects, thus allowing for super slim displays... adding all those other connects defeats that purpose - but I guess that will be the state of affairs during the transition period

Whats the point? It still has the same resolution. I thought the whole purpose of Displayport was to go beyond 2560x1600.

For the love of all that is unholy come up with a standard connector and stick with it. Also try to make it better than the last one with headroom for improvement.

DVI/HDMI/Displayport/what's next?

Vid cards don't even have display port yet.

THIS is what I've been waiting for ! :D

Now, let's see this baby undercut the equivalent Apple 30" display by a few hundred $$$ and it will definitely be on my MUST SELL KIDNEY TO BUY list.
