Would an eeePC running MacOS be an iEEE? There's an institute that might object to the use of that name.

I don't see why Apple doesn't make a PC version of Mac OSX. There's clearly a demand for it. There's a lot of people who love the OS but not the hardware that apple wants the OS on.

Why would you want the latest MacOS on a Eee when it's already got Linux? It's not as if an Eee is going to be a pleasant MacOS performer with a maxmimum of 512MB and a 7" 800x600 screen....

The point of the Eee is to run a select few applications in the best way possible and MacOS is definitely not the best way to run anything with it's relatively heavy hardware requirements and "designer" interface gimmickery.

I don't really like Linux for anything other than application-server roles, but give Linux a simple job to do and it will do it faster than MacOS for sure.

yes but it will cost $1200 instead of the $400 for an eee

Apple lawyers have probably already tracked him down and surrounded his house, though.

I think the minimum threshold for qualifying as 'ultraportable' is if it weighs less than 1kg (2.2Lbs). Smaller dimensions are a plus, but I think it's about getting less burden on your arms/shoulders when you carry it.

If Apple's really gonna go for a 13" screen, though, I might find it acceptable if it gets to within 3 pounds (1.36kg), though. MacWorld 2008 here we come!

Seems dubious to keep calling this theoretical new mac "ultraportable", when its only .3" smaller screen. Ultimately the screen determines the form factor, so other than being possibly thinner and/or lighter, its not going to be much smaller.

Ultimately the "new ultraportable" is just a MacBook update.
And boy does it need it...MacBook has such a horrible LCD, it would be amazing if they updated it :) Maybe add in a better burner too!
