I myself still have ATI X800XL. ATI's new offerings havent been very convincing and I considered GF8800GT but ATI's 3870 just might be worth buying. Especially now that I finally got that 22 widescreen panel. How close to 3870 an OC'd 3850 would go? Or is it wiser to have 512mb card now?

Trolls receive a lot of attention here at TR. More reasons for them to do what they gotta do. Remember Shintai and Prochestron? They were TR celebrities until they got their asses kicked out.

Too bad this card sucks in Crysis.

I'll wait for a 8800GT or a 3870.

Ahh, too late

I just owned GeCube 2600XT GDDR3 last week before 38x0 launch..
It's not ground-breaking card but I'm quite happy with RV630.

Penis small? Guys, seriously, don't let Crytek make your penis shrink. Crysis is just 1 game, and it's not a good representation of future games especially since Unreal Tournament 3 is a next gen game and the 3850 does a damn good job with it. Even Bioshock and Call of Duty 4.

Ouch, Some companies here in Aust are trying to take us for a good ride

http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=5

Gecube HD3870 512M GDDR4 Dual-Link DVI HDCP HDMI PCI Express PreorderETA $499.00 $509.00

Think the Aust dollar is around 91US cents at the moment so they are making a sweat profit on that. Compared to the same place with this

Albatron GeForce 8800GT 512MB DDR3 PCIEx16 HDCP 2xDVI-I HDTV $399.00

go figure

Dumb Question - Can I get any of these to work in an Intel Mac Pro? My current card is failing, and I'd hate to spend 400$ on an X1900XT when I could buy one of these....

Only reason 3850 doesn't run half way decent is because of 256mb of vram. Other wise it would definitely be able to play high detail.

It certainly is a worthwhile option over the 8600. The power usage is so much lower than HD 2900 and the performance is close. That is very impressive.

Toyota is just a troll.

Only a fool considers HD 3850 to be a poor card in Crysis.

Well, it also looks like a 512MB Powercolor 3850 is going on sale for $199 MSRP. Seems like a good way to split the difference between the 3850 and the 3870.
