Remember when Amazon came up with changing prices continuously throughout a day, or based on people's payments to them, There was a huge uproar? Now that Newegg is essentially doing the same thing, why no uproar?

I can understand price changes once a day as inventory changes, but several throughout the day seems a tad fishy...

I haven't seen this much excitement over video cards in a long long time. The 8800GT and 3800 series are really making an impact regardless of performance. Maybe its because we all knew that the G80 and obviously the R600 could improve on things A LOT. I have a 2900XT and you can be damn sure I feel the itch to upgrade, but if things are this good now, how much better will the next round of GPUs be? I have the patience to wait it out.

We've yet to see a single GPU that can come close to playing Crysis on Very High in DX10 well, or any other DX10 game for that matter. These DX 10(.1) cards still disappoint to be honest. I feel like these companies are holding out on us just so they can force us to buy TWO or more of their cards just to handle today's software.

Like the availability checks - seems like a service that should always have been on your site and many others.
I am awaiting my 8800GT so I cannot comment on how great it maybe yet, however what part does naff coding play in games that make such high end parts necessary?

We found only three cards in stock: two at Newegg for $269.99 each, and one at ZipZoomFly priced at $299.99. All other listings were out of stock, with prices ranging from $239.98 to $299.99—well above the announced $219.

I did get my VisionTek 3870 on Thursday, as I mentioned in the earlier thread. I paid $214 for it (plus tax and shipping), and although Best Buy is still showing the 3870 out of stock since Wednesday, it's also still showing the card at $214, which was true when I ordered the card late Tuesday afternoon, and has been true ever since. So I gather that by "all other" out of stock listings for the card you meant to say, "All other listings except for Best Buy"...?

I know that some folks might think buying etail from Best Buy isn't cool, or something, but I saw no reason to pay more than $214 for the card just for the privilege of ordering it elsewhere...;)

Also, for those interested, BB's has the 3850 available online for $159.

Thanks for these availability trackers.

Not that I am in a market for a new GPU. My X1900XT is more than sufficient for the time being. There is nothing compelling for me at the moment.

;o0 Just a note to say don't overlook the 3850, it's not as good as the 3870 or 8800GT but it's still close to a 2900XT (ie. 2900Pro) and loads faster than the 2900GT. Newegg has some at $180. They're even more enticing in the UK as it's 3850=£100 ... muchslower2900GT=£100 ... 2900Pro=£150 ... 3870=£170+ ... 8800GT=£180+ with the last 2 having dire availability.

Availability checks are cool. Kinda like spot gold or oil prices.
