This is crazy - SPI/1-Wire/SMBus/i2c already admirably solve all of the problems which ESA is aiming for, without filling your case with even more wires (these ICs are very low-cost, and don't need large amounts of space for USB sockets). i2c is a well-defined and mature standard, and it works - there's no need to reinvent the wheel.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I2c

Note that all ATI graphics cards already include an i2c bus - and have done for many years now...

In fact, this seems to be a thinly veiled attempt to lock customers into (more expensive?) hardware from nVidia and its partners :(

LOL! Did anyone else notice the reflection in the reflection of the transformer in the first picture of the case?

To bad there isn't away to tweak PSU output from the software tool, or at least there didn't look to be away.

I am glad Nvidia is still pushing this concept, something like this should be a standard feature on all enthusiast systems.

nice controls, but how much is this gizmo gonna cost me?

the custom rules and actions is a pretty cool idea, depending on how much control you can get over each component.

I always wanted a unified system for monitoring things (can you view these all at once without resorting to space-wasting 3D bezels and whatnot)?

Though this 'feature' is more a bonus of a system I will build, I would never build FOR ESA.

Seems like a lot of effort for very little benefit to the ordinary user. I cannot imagine that the enthusiast crowd is so large as to drive this initiative, but I may be wrong. I would think something like this opens up the doors for the common user to really muck things up.

I wonder how open this ESA spec really is. In other words, Linux support someday soon?

Very nice, perhaps a little "3D ish" in certain areas but a pretty good effort.Unified system monitoring is long overdue...nice work NVidia.
