This rumor sounds true, but I think there would have to be an increase in the SP's on the GTX... not just clockspeed. They should be able to fit more on 65nm chips....

If not, I think AMD's next gen part due around July is going to beat this. Compared to the 3870, it has 50% more SP's, double the TMU's, almost double the memory bandwidth, and 25% faster core clockspeed. Probably perform similar to the 3870 X2 I guess ....

I'm all for the release of "new" hardware. It's going to bring prices down on those cards which haven't moved in awhile, namely the 8800Ultra and GTX. If I had to choose between an Ultra at let's say a newly lowered price of $500, and a 9800 GTX which will probably debut at $700+, I'd definately take the Ultra, since performance gains will most likely be nominal, there's just no point. I look forward to seeing how it all shapes up.

so is it able to play crysis smoothly at your normal 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 rez? or do i have to wait for another round of cards? LOL!

The GTX will have a freakin' G92 core? What the H? That's just milking it.... I thought it would feature a G98 or G100 core or something along those lines. Misinformed yet again.

Arghh... I was hoping the 9800GTX was actually going to be a big improvement over the 8800GTX :(
