More storage. Add a bunch of chips from USB flash drives. Doesn't have to be super fast to play back movies, mp3s, etc... more storage!

If the price goes down a little bit, I'll certainly buy one :) I like the new specs, but 500 is just a bit much for me right now.

Does a larger screen mean a larger keyboard as well? I tried out the first Eee PC, but I couldnt get used to touch typing on the tiny keyboard. Everything else about the Eee PC I liked, I even found the 7" screen adequate.

8.9" screen? The standard resolution for that size is 1024x600 so that is most likely what it'll be.
I do hope it trickle down to other price points beside the top $499 one, but I doubt it at least of the first few months. Time to crack the piggy bank! |

Yeah-for the price I'm not so sure I'm there. Honestly, I don't need the bigger drive, but the bigger screen would help readability greatly. I'd also love a straight grayscale one with the same display type as the Kindle. If its going to be for lightweight use, why not make it even more portable and more usable? Not that I was going to get one this year anyway, but those are the kinds of directions I'd like to see it go. I'm not sure that I'd drop $500 on a small laptop with limited functionality. Give me the same thing for a little less, and then we can talk (the display doesn't have to be super; just legible and bright enough).

I'm still waiting to pull the trigger on my EEE purchase.
I wouldn't mind the larger screen, but I'm not sure I really need the additional storage on an ultra portable machine. I might pay $450 for an EEE with the 9" screen, but all other spec's the same as the 4GB 7" model, but with the projected price where it is for the 9", I'll still be buying the 7". -SF |

If they can increase battery life while having all these, that will be great.

Doesn't really matter what the screen size is if they don't up the resolution. It really just needs a 1024 width.

This looks like the display they intended to have all along. The way the original model looked I kind of wondered if they had designed it for a larger display but then had to go with the smaller one for price or component availability reasons.
It'll be interesting to see how much impact this has on battery life. |

I like my EEE but one with a higher resolution screen would be even better. |

Asus, you got yourself a sale. Assuming I can still install Kubuntu on it :)
Link seems to be dead, at least for me at work. Anyone know what the res of the screen is? Edit: DailyTech pegs it at 1024x600, which is just about acceptable. |
