I highly doubt this chip will feature different silicon than the 3850/3870 which means half the memory controller will go unused. I wouldn't be surprised if it's built on the same PCBs as well, but with just half the number of memory chips.

Unless their are a lot of extra 3850 PCBs lying around or RV670 chips with partially faulty memory controllers I imagine these boards will be sold with even lower margins than their older siblings.

Man, that 8600 GTS I bought was the last video card I bought before I made the switch to the Apple. Getting that card for the price it was at was a huge mistake and I feel bad for other people who bought that series of cards.

Kudos to AMD for coming up with a sensible naming system for graphics cards, rather than the sea of suffixes ATI used/Nvidia still uses.

What's the point sticking a 128 bit bus? That would cripple the card and perform more like 3650 than a 3800 series.

If this card would work in HybridX with the 780G chipset, AMD could have a winner on thier hands here, especially in the HTPC market.

NCIX.ca is selling a Palit 256mb 3850 for $129.99 out the door no mail in rebate offer just straight up.

1st the 8600 GTS is now garbage and 2ndly the 3830's had best ring in lower given that insane price.

p.s. the Diamond 512mb version of the 3850 is now selling for $157.00

I wish I hadn't I bought my 8800GT for $228.00 now.

Hmm... I was wondering if something was going to come along to fill in the blank where a "Radeon HD 3670" ought to be... this seems to fit the bill.

Could probably do with being slightly cheaper, although I expect there will be a price cut soon enough....
