So 9800 GTX == 8800GTS superclocked plus Tri-SLI.
Wow. So underwhelming! Still haven't picked up my 8800GTS 512, so maybe I'll grab one of these instead, but I feel dirty for supporting Nvidia's newest Funky Numbers. |

I wouldn't bother making a time-taking review on this one, TR.

Yawn. *smiles at his 7900GS*
Here's the problem; there's always something new around the corner, and you never know when a gem like the 8800GT(S) will come out. Me, I'm waiting for new silicon. I don't know if the GT200 is going to be the astounding jump in tech we all want it to be, but who knows. In 3-6 months there'll be a new revision anyways. I'm just gonna build a new rig around Christmas and hope nothing too special comes out shortly thereafter. |

I'm wondering why Anandtech didn't test an 8800GTS. It makes no sense not to. It makes much more sense to test agains the 8800GTS than against the 8800GT IMO. Right?

It's about time they replaced the G80 8800 GTX, don't you think? |

It's all for marketing. If you are a average rich kid, you probably don't read tech sites, there for buy the latest and greatest. Don't hate the company hate the uninformed.

This has to be the most underwhelming new product in a while, if you even wanna call an 8800GTS+ a new product.

wow, this is it? if ATI's 4000 series is as good as they say, and this is the best nvidia has to offer until new silicon, we could see a shift in the weather . . .

Anandtech shows this thing sucking down 350 W under load. That's about 100 W more than the 8800gts. I'm hoping those numbers are erroneous, the faster memory alone doesn't account for such an increase.

other "co-incidence" is that suddenly all 8800 GTS cards are now upwards of 260$. Two days ago you could find a overclocked 8800 GTS 512 for 229 $ after rebates.

I'm really surprised none of the usual suspects came out with an overclocked card already. Is 675 MHz nearing the reasonable limit for G92?
(I see Palit has a 730MHz 1GB 8800GTS. Head to head anyone?) |

We can thank AMD's underwhelming offerings and someone's greediness for this, I am sure.

We may as well wait for July to come around at this rate. The whole point of buying a highend GPU is so we DON'T have to daisy chain 3 of them to play the latest games. Tri-SLI is nice but unless the price point is several hundreds lower then theres no point. Give the 9600GT Tri-SLI support, or the entire lineup for that matter, then you'll see more sales. ATI is making a helluva lot more sense these days.

That is an awful big price premium for triple SLI capability and an extra 1000 in the model number. Both are worthless IMHO.

With these new cards having the same core as the 8800, you gotta wonder if nVidia are going to artificially make these more appealing by using driver-tricks. </a little cynicism never hurt>
These are about 30% more expensive than the 8800GTS around here. For what, tri-sli that I don't care about? Ought to call this the "thread-mill card". |

I don't see this as anything special. Definitely won't trade in my 8800GTS(G92) for it. Nvidia's numbering system is now officially lacking in any logic whatsoever.
