Motorola catered to Apple for years (at the expense of other companies using their chips), so it's not surprising that they signed some similar deals with Intel as well. It's just Apple being Apple...nothing big.

I'm also trying to figure out how the system multiplier on this new Mac works. Last I looked, you couldn't multiply 200 by *any* integer and get 3060.
800FSB = 200MHz quad pumped. If it's 3.06, it's got a 15.3 multiplier. I know Intel has got their half mults cooking along, but one-third is a new thing. It's far more likely IMO that Apple has overclocked or 'alternately certified' their Santa Rosa to run 1066 FSB. 1066 =266 QDR. 266 * 11.5 = 3066MHz. Scoop? |
