The competition isn't Atom vs Tegra. It's Tegra vs Moorestown, and Moorestown is over a year away. Even AMD with Imageon is better-positioned for this power envelope than Atom is.

In the world of arm this is as much of an attack on TI and Qualcomm as it is Intel. ARM and Atoms aren't really targeting the same markets right now, I don't see how this is going for "Atom's jugular".

Unless ARM gets more support then CE, Lunix and other embedded OSes (read Windows XP/Vista/ect) it will never fully compete with Atom and will be stuck in the embedded market.

I'd hardly consider being unable to run windows xp a downside, assuming a suitably complete linux distro is available.

I guess this will set a new baseline on integrated ARM SoCs for this type of device. I suspect this single 12mm^2 chip outperforms all the silicon in an AppleTV, and the 24fps 1080p decode support is very intriguing (although if the max output is 1680x1050 what's the point?).

I look forward to seeing some EeePC-like devices using this, for significantly less money.

This could be an Eee PC-type platform, but it won't happen overnight. Apps need ported and an interface needs designed yet. And a non-x86 platform outside of PowerPC with a Mac ROM loses its attractiveness to me because I can't run an OS that I actually want to use.

Can't wait for a Cortex-based derivative going into bigger devices --e.g. Linux-powered mini notebooks-- and putting Atom to shame.

The HDMI v1.3 support is veeeery interesting. Imagine the convenience of being able to walk around with this thing in your pocket, plug it into any HDMI-capable LCD or receiver and have instant HD/digital audio goodness. At the very least, it'd be make a nice method of testing out such equipment right at the store before buying.

Any idea how much storage these will be packing?
