I think this is pretty cool, albeit a bit heavy. Don't forget the computer doesn't come with an OS either though.

I wouldn't exactly call an 8600GT 'gaming-worthy'. I would be more interested if they tacked on another 100-150$ and put in one of the mobile 8800s.

From the picture, it looks like another rebranded Compal.

You can actually purchase completely assembled Compal JFL92's with the same specs for the same price. Cost savings be damned.

I built one on XoticPC and it had a higher resolution screen, 4gigs of ram, and an OS for 100 dollars more than the estimated price in the article.

That looks exactly like my Dell Vostro. And mine has almost the exact same specs for almost $200 cheaper :P Though I do admit I wish I had been able to put this one together.
