I bought a $50 rosewill 500W for my 8800GTX and E6420 @3GHz box and its still a kickin'. It seems to me that $100+ for a PSU is a little overkill.

finally, internal DC-DC power supplies. it looks good, but the prices are kind of out of the "premium" territory and in the "friggen ridiculous" area.

Yeesh. Just get a plain SeaSonic M12 or M12 II or similar and be done. At least that way we know who actually manufactured the thing.

Well its not good enough for me. I need it to have fan that looks like a car wheel with some spinners. That way the fan moves but when you look at it its not moving.

So are these really thaaat much better than their Quattro series? I mean, they better be, because you can get the Quattros for about half the price - and they are advertised at 850 and 1000 watts.
And also I just bought a Quattro 850 to run HD 4850 crossfire so they better not be duds :-) |

Yeesh: The video card or the power supply to run it. You decide.

Hell, this $15 480 watt PSU is probably good enough for 90% of computer out there:

Sure, it's the most critical component in your PC, but I've never seen the cheap PSUs get 'out performed' by the expensive ones in Call of Duty.. heh.
Just buy your cheap PSU from a decent store with a decent return policy / warranty and all is well.
