i heard from a source (please don't ask, believe it if you wish) that XFX is actually having serious financial trouble. But i reallly like XFX and want them to stick around! Regardless, this is a great marketing move.

Please fill out the form below and we will send you more information regarding how to receive your reward when it is available.
I like that..."when it is available"....I guess "when" means sometime later than "now," I suppose. I'll take a guess that "when" is 4-6 weeks from now, and that it will be 4-6 weeks after that before these folks will get their "cold hard cash." Or, do you think I'm being too optimistic?...;) |

I like XFX. A few years back I bought an 'open box' TV Card by them at newegg. Well, it had some proprietary cable that had ALL the connectors on it, but amazingly newegg didn't feel the need to send me that and told me to piss off as Open Box means no cables, even ones REQUIRED and PROPRIETARY to the card. I called XFX about buying a replacement cable and they shipped me a whole new card, in a retail box. Kudos to them!

Wow! Nvidia really has some impressive partners!
For eVGA, for customers that bought an 9800GTX or GT260 before the price drop, they can use the eVGA step up program to upgrade to a better card. Or eVGA also has announced their program - up to $125 back for GTX 260 or 280 owners! http://www.evga.com/articles/EVGABucksPromo.asp edit: nothing from BFG yet... |

Good move by XFX but in a way I feel like those extremely early adopters should be screwed and taught a lesson :p

The size of these price cuts is fairly staggering. In the days after the HD4 launch I can't imagine a sentence being spoken at Nvidia HQ that didn't contain an expletive; all the restrooms were probably out of toilet paper with trash bins full of soiled Hanes undies.

Wow. I've always been impressed with XFX. This is rather over the top. Good on them.

Good on XFX for doing that, though I don't feel bad for anyone who bought a GTX 280 or 260 when they came out, because it was plainly obvious that those cards were massively overpriced at launch.
If they chose to spend their money anyway, then either they have enough spare cash laying around that money isn't an issue for them, or otherwise they're just stupid with their money and got what they deserved. |

Rather classy move XFX.
Now if they would just do the something similar for those who purchased a 9800gtx right before the price cut :) |

I am very impressed by XFX's action. I didn't have much opinion pro or con of their company, but this makes a difference. I'll just assume they're as good as their word.
BTW, I don't think any of the early buyers (260 or 280) are going to be "short". They are lucky to be getting any refund. Let's think here... it is solely pressure from ATI's hard work that is forcing Nvidia to drop prices so soon. And these buyers chose to support Nvidia instead of ATI. They should first thank ATI, then XFX. As for me, after planning for about 8 months to get the next great Nvidia card, I bought an ATI 4850. Can't believe the value here... for about $170 it plays Crysis perfectly at 1920 x 1200 with all DX9 settings High (no AA)!! Bravo ATI - and XFX. |

"could see GTX 260 owners pocket the entire difference"
499.99-299.99 = 200. 200 - 120 = 80.... Surely then 260 owners will in fact be $80 short? Or am I missing something? |
