I wonder if it's better to announce at a lower price and jack it up ahead of time like this or if it's better to release at a higher price and drop it a couple months later like the original iPhone?

Makes you wonder if MSI wanted to create the competitive buzz. Will they be hammered like Asus was after Asus released the first EEEs at higher than projected prices?

I bought the EEE 1000H before the price reduction to $550, but newegg actually refunded my 100 dollars.
Not sure I'd buy again though. The prudent thing would have been to wait until the dual core atom's come out this fall. Who knows how much those will cost though, and at the moment I am pleased with the 4+ hour battery life (with wifi enabled and actively being used). |

I guess I am now waiting for the UMPCs based on the Nano. I don't know if these systems will be better. Just that the Atom based ones aren't anything jaw-dropping like I initially thought.

I guess they aren't cheaper than the EeePCs after all! The 900 is now a lot cheaper than the Wind, isn't it? Fascinating.
