Cross border shipping also means GST AND PST. As of now some provinces do not pay PST when ordering from NCIX.

8% is a lot.

Any rumors about service for Europe? No? That remains a pipe dream?

Somehow I think it's easier to walk half a dozen blocks to my neighborhood NCIX! (that's one of the great advantages of living in Vancouver)

Primary consideration for the warehouse is proximity to an airport that is a hub for their main shipping partner in Canada (presumably UPS). Beyond that, things like real estate prices and labor costs come into play. For these reasons I'd bet on Concord or Winnipeg over Toronto or Montreal... unless there are government inducements distorting the equation, of course.

I wouldn't be surprised if the customer service reps operating out of California is just a temporary thing. There's not a huge benefit to consolidating that in a single location, and there are incentives to locate things like that in high-unemployment places like the Maritimes (though it's not the slam dunk it was when the Canadian dollar was cheaper).

I wonder how prices will differ, seeing as the Canadian dollar is at parity with the American dollar.

Whenever I get tired of the warm Ohio summers and move further north, I'll know that I won't have to worry about shipping across the border with both NCIX and NewEgg available up there. Hooray!
