It's as if there has been a conscious campaign around the TR offices to increase the humor in their news posts. I think it's great, has anyone else noticed a trend?

"Of course, given how eSATA is quickly becoming the weapon of choice for external storage solutions, one has to wonder whether we needed the extra bandwidth or not."
eSata is not taking over anything. Besides enthusiast boards where else do you see eSATA ports? People also forget one HUGE advantage of USB, the fact that its been around in one shape or another and will likely continue to be for quiet some time. I can't begin to describe how frustrating it is when you find some piece of useful scientific equipment and its no longer possible to hook it into a modern computer because it uses some outdated/proprietary connection. One port please for generic equipment. |

USB 3.0 = meh until there are peripherals that *need* more bandwidth then what USB 2.0 can provide.

Am I the only one that thinks the slant of this article is a little misleading? Intel never said 'we are keeping USB 3.0 proprietary or on a licensing model' they just said that the spec was not ready to be released.

Can I ask the specification to specify a connector that doesn't ALMOST fit in upside down?
Whoever came up with the current USB connector needs to be shot. |

I'm pretty sure USB 5.0 will be called 'UberSuperDuperSpeed'.
And it still won't be as fast as Firewire 400 for things like harddrives. :) |

Well those mice will have "future prediction" engines that can see things before they happen. It's a lot of data to transmit back and forth, though.

Dude, the extra bandwidth of SuperDuperSpeed USB *obviously* isn't intended for simply a single gaming mouse; it's for when you have a *RAID array* of gaming mice that you'll see the bandwidth gains. Get with the times, man.
