that blows chunks...... I was hoping AMD would release refreshes of the 4850 and 4870's while dropping the prices on the current ones by $50 + each.

the sub $150 crowd won't be getting any faster, just more of it..... bummer the 4850 isn't that amazing anymore and should cost less, additionally ATI needs something to fill the gap between the 4870 and the 4870 X2..... the jump in performance and price is simply to much.

HD4830 is what I thought the HD4670 was going to be in the first place. But w/e HD4830 is definitely an good idea, been a while since AMD hit every market segment of video cards effectively.

HD4670<HD4830<HD4850<HD4870
VS
9600GSO <9600GT <9800GT<9800GTX /+ < GTX260 /216 <GTX280

hopefully the 4830 is to the 4850 as the 9600gt was to the 8800gt.

this whole every-twenty-bucks pricing schedule makes it really hard to decide. There could possibly be a thing here as "too many choices"

Whatever. I just check the TR guides when I need a video card, I don't have time to wallow through all this crap and decipher it.

10% slower for $50 less. Sounds good but many deals to be had these days. :)

"posted slides that show the card handily outperforming the GeForce 9800 GT"

I think I have no reason not to believe

AMD is a little late on the draw, they should've hit the 8800GT/9800GT when they first dropped the other 2 cards. Glad to see them attacking all of Nvidia's ranges. The more they attack, the better the buy is for the consumers. =) Nvidia's next new line-up will have to be *gasp* affordable.

I'd be really interested in this card if I can get it for ~ 120. Seems like it fits my needs perfectly. Probably along with a lot of other people. Mind you, that is only if it actually outperforms the 9800GT handily as AMD has stated.
