This is why we must pass a $35,000,000,000 bailout bill for the DRAM manufacturers. As PC enthusiasts we can't afford a collapse of this industry!

On a more serious note, regardless of the passage of the legislation, lots of companies will have a hard time and there will still be an economic downturn.

Deteriorating economic conditions will curb demand growth also. Finance accounts for 20% of technology spending. Lehman brothers spent something like $2.5B on technology acquisition annually. That's gone. Consolidation in banking means a lot of cost savings (where once there were two back offices and trading pits, now there's just one).
