Considering this $284, 2.66 GHz i7/920 will vastly outperform my year-old, $1K, 3.06-GHz QX9650, the price/performance cut is immense.
And it's only $18 more than the Q6600 was selling for when it was brand new. These are so tasty I might just need to get one for a home entertainment system. I should start dropping xmas hints... |

I like the C2D naming scheme better. Even though it obscures clock speed as well, once you've got the basics it's easy to figure out the other basic specs of a chip. Also, they're starting out with 9...will they have to turn it up to 11 for future processors or will they just make 10 louder?

Are the prices back at $284, 562, and 999?
http://www.neoseeker.com/news/8828-pricing-pegged-for-first-three-m... That (newer) article says the new prices as $367, 720, and 1412. |

I rather see the Core 2 quads to cut prices considering everyone probably has core 2 duo.
