Wait, I thought Far Cry 2 had a DX10.1 path. That not so?

I have seen this before ... AMD released a hot-fix for Crysis so that we all could enjoy the game while it was on sale during the Christmas season. Now they are doing it again by jumping on FarCry 2 and to profit from the popularity this game will have (or already has). Not a bad idea.
The last time they did it, however, they left a lot of other problems unsolved and made me buy Nvidia. Needless to say that I wish for solid drivers more than I wish for hot fixes. |

The 4870,according to PCGH.com, beats the 216core by a decent margin even at 1920 res.And that's not even on DX10.1. I think the Radeons are going to kick some asses badly in Ubisoft's new games.Especially, if they all are DX10.1 compatible.
I heard Dead space is Dx10.1 too...... |

German tech site PC Games Hardware has somehow benchmarked the hotfix in Far Cry 2, and it reports 83-97% performance gains for a Radeon HD 4870 X2 in DirectX 9 mode.
Uh, wow. |

If those benchmarks are legit it seems like I might be able to get away with playing on high in 1920 with a 8800gt :D

But does it run Crysis @ 2600x1600 with 16AA 16AF at 200fps?

Well, at least we know they work with game developers before they release the game!

reading comprehension hdfsise. It's a nice thing.
Meanwhile, I'd like to see the benchmarked diff and for someone to pick through what was changed. |

"dx10.1 is useless, there's nothing to see here, move along, physx is more important even though you drastically lose framerate and there is no improvement to gameplay."
And more unforgettable Baghdad Bob quotes:
"Here is an unbiased review site that proves beyond a doubt that the 260 is faster than the 4870x2: www.nvidia.com" and, "All 260's ever made can overclock 100+ Mhz on the GPU and RAM."
