If that is true wonder what the power requirements for it will be...

Dual GPU cards, SLI and Crossfire do not make sense. They always have more game bugs and compatibility issues, are expensive, waste power, generate heat and always seem to be outclassed by the next generation's single chip product.

~2.8 billion transistors! ATI'll have to make a 4850 X3 to compete, and that'll only be ~2.7 billion transistors. lol.

I'm sure they are working on some sort of laptop version of the chip which they could then use in a X2 setup.

NV must be getting desparate, their previous dual GPU cards only came out as the final hurrah when an architecture was due to be replaced as their high-end solution. Or maybe the next single GPU will be much changed rather than more tweaks to G80 :o and this is the last hurrah.

Even with the die shrink i dont think they'll be able to put 2 full sized GTX260 chips on the same board. I think they'll probably have to cut down each chip, unless they want a 300w card with a triple slot cooler.
Lets call it a GTX 240x2 , or if i follow nVidia naming logic the GS980GTX^2+ .

Nvidia is pissed already...

They have nothing to offer agains 4870X2 if they use GT260X2 that is the greatest challenge for them but I believe it wont happening or perhaps after 40nm transition I might agree.
