The 8.9" panels are the perfect size for this type of device, at least if the device is designed around them (i.e., not a small screen swamped by a huge bezel).

The 10.2" systems are just a little bit too large. However if the resolution was upped to 1280x800 I wouldn't mind.

Hmm, where are all the posts from people who would rather spend a couple of dollars more and get a "real" laptop for almost the same money?

I don't know about Europe, but Asus is a much better-known brand with more shelf/mind space in Asia than it is in the US ("enthusiasts" aside) so it's not that strange that it is doing more business outside the US (particularly when you factor in countries where a $1K laptop is simply out of reach for most people).
