I'd love to see an Eee Box that uses one of the 780G mITX boards, preferably the J&W version:
http://www.jwele.com/motherboard_detail.php?419 along with the Athlon X2 3400e. Fudzilla did a review of this platform a while back and, surprisingly, its power consumption is equal to the Atom platform while idle: http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9... It takes off under load though, but it stays within spitting distance of the Celeron 220. |

Indeed. It's basically a 1.2GHz single-core reduced-cache Core 2 chip.
I will note, though, the only board currently available with a Celeron 220 has an SiS chipset, but Asus might just put a more modern chipset on... it uses the same bus as every other Core 2 chip, after all.. |

That Celeron will kick the Atom's ass six ways to sunday, and let you watch HD video in the process. I wonder what chipset they will be pairing it with. A GeForce 9300 would rock, although even the G43/G45 might be acceptable now that intel finally has working HD decode. A G33/G35 (or 945) would be disappointing, but would probably still be good enough for 1080p content with the right software filters (like CoreAVC).
