Using Windows 7 prebeta, works fine. They are streamlining everything. Should be the cleanest Windows to date.

Bigger news than W7 is the next wave of Windows Live. Everything is getting a much needed improvement. Windows supersite has a nice preview... http://www.winsupersite.com/live/wlwave3_explained_03.asp

I hope Windows 7 will run with 1.0GB RAM very well.
Just like Windows XP.

With Vista you would need 1.5GB RAM for your computer to run quick.

I really don't understand everyone's gripes with Vista. I've been using Home Premium x64 since the day it came out and I've not experienced any more issues than I did with XP during the same period (its first 2 years). In fact, I'd wager that I've experienced less issues during the first year and a half of Vista than I did with the first year and a half of XP.

As a gamer XP was brutal for the first year compared to 98 SE in terms of video driver support from both ATI and Nvidia. While Vista video drivers weren't great when they first came out, they were much better (both in terms of stability and performance) than the first XP drivers.

The problem is that XP offered so many advantages over 98 that people we're more willing to over look the issues. Also, people complained a lot about XP being a piece of bloatware. Vista doesn't have the same scale of advantages over XP that XP had over 98, and Vista doesn't have it's Windows 2000 to get people ready for it.

They really are pushing this operating system very very hard, they realise what a huge failure Windows Vista has been (even if it's fine in some peoples eyes, the general market perception is that it's a lemon)

I really do hope it's the XP to Win2k update that is needed, just some small basic changes, a little bit of flair and it's a lot better, ideally.

I must admit, I'm still tempted to figure out Mac OSx on my PC and run Windows in a VM
