This article is FUD. There's no technical justification included. Less memory bandwidth? Bad for supercomputers? The whole concept of a supercomputer is to have as many processors and [as much] distributed data processing as possible. TR: Please filter the crap a little better.

Interesting test on the ATI video V Badaboom video converters.
ATI's solution comes free with Catalyst 8.12 support this month and clearly is much faster.
Badaboom costs $30 and is very format limited.
