I'm only 22 and I remember when memory was the most expensive part of a computer.

The Pricegrabber link still has it listed as $41, but click on the Kingston.com link and the CL5 is on sale for $34 with free shipping.

Here's a deal: PCP&C's Silencer 750-watt power supply for only US$ 80 (in RED), $90 (in BLUE) and $105 (in BLACK) -- after mail-in rebates of $40, 35 and 30, respectively (w/ free shipping):

BTW, in spite of slight differences in description, these three units are identical except for their case color. |

I'm both glad and a touch dissapointed to see the WD10EADS finally show up at reasonable prices. A month ago it was available from places other than Newegg but for ~$140 :( (btw it's available for a touch less from other places, Newegg isn't the price leader as often as they used to be.) Now it's at a more realistic price, a month ago I picked up a few WD Caviar Blacks though to finalize my WHS box which I want to be quiet and adjusting AAM with Hitachi Feature Tool the seek times take a serious nose dive. Oh well, most of the time they aren't seeking anyway.

Damn, that's cheap RAM. This quarter is probably going to mark the bottom for DDR2. Even the build-to-order OEMs probably still have unsold inventory from the slow 4Q, and the even-slower 1Q isn't going to help. But the mfrs have been idling lines and are switching capacity over to DDR3 (in anticipation of the Core i5), so eventually constrained supply is going to show up in the price. DDR2 may get a little cheaper over the next couple of months, but not by a lot.
But there's going to be cheap DDR2 in the used market for a long time. |
