Stuff in print is written a long long time before it shows up on store shelves. I think that's pretty evident.

So it will continue the tradition for seagate drives to have have awesome sequential read performance and be mediocre at everything else?

After sticking with Seagate for the past 7yrs, I am going back to WD for my current round of drives. I just purchased two 1TB Green drives. I will stick with WD until I hear the dreaded click of death return.
Not a fan boy. I go with what works. Seagate failed me twice! |

Wawaweewa! I read there'd be Samsung drives with 500GB platters this month a while back, but this is out of left field. Hopefully they all do one. I don't particularly want a Seagate. The Samsung one is 500GB single platter and it's one of those quiet types, though. That could be neat.
I'm just wondering where the WD drives are. They've had 250GB 2.5" drive platters for months. One of those in a Velociraptor type of drive would spank a lot of the lower end SSDs. |

Heh, too little, too late Seagate. I'll be sticking with my Western Digitals for a while.
