Why use a radeon 3410 when there is a already a IGP chipset there? That seems like a big waste. It might as well use the 780G instead of 690G+HD3410.

Isn't the X1250 based on R420 and PS 2.0b- 2004 technology- and doesn't it lack a vertex shader? Won't look too hot next to nV 9300/9400 integrated offerings...

In other news, AMD's Puma platform is still at large.
Also: Why does that screen look like 4:3 aspect ratio? |

AMD's new slogan: "A netbook with balls"
Seriously though, I'm glad to see AMD get into this market. Remake Athlons with their new process and crush the Nano and Atom! |

i don't get it... what is the big deal of releasing a low speed athlon made on 65nm (lima) with an outdated chipset and a slow gpu? i believe it would be damn simpler, power friendly and cheap to pair that processor with a 780v and done... also what is the big deal with a 1,6 ghz @15 w athlon made on 65 nm... i have a 2,6 ghz x2 with 45 w tdp brisbane, and i remember the x2 3800 2 ghz manchester core, 90 nm, 35 w...

The 13.3" version has an optical drive....This one therefore does not? No mention of an optical drive on the 12" so that sort of does relegate it to netbook land and so it's definately not cheap. For this price they should have included at slot loading dvd burner and dropped some other less vital drives ex. the media card reader and two usb ports... Bad move.

Unlike with Via's Nano, we apparently won't have to wait ages for the processor to show up... ...it becomes available in April.
Yes, waiting 4 months is very different from waiting 5 months... :P |

Looks like AMD may have finally figured out how to split the difference between the T&L notebook models that perform at a price, and the upmarket netbooks that add more features and price than what the underlying platform can support.
Of course, if this strategy works, Intel can flip a switch at any time and open up a flood of dual-core Atoms paired with Nvidia chipsets, so success, if any, may have a short life. |

How is this different than the 2650e? Just different packaging? I think I'd rather have a 1.0 GHz dual-core Athlon than a 1.6 GHz single-core.

I don't get it, is this supposed to be less powerful than a turion X2? What is the order of performance of amd processors in the mobile platform?

I wonder what the total power usage of this plaform will be. This is what matters most when it comes to battery life of course, not just the power of a single component (e.g. >5W Atom CPU only). Also, discrete graphics are always welcome.

"only" $700? For a netbook?
