Goddamn, the number of spelling errors in this post is mind-blowing. C'mon guys, we're better than this. Let's not have this turn into Shacknews please?

Lol, another incremental increase for Crisis. Maybe at this rate it will be playable on current gen hardware in 2050!

So the significant story here is that AMD appears to have lied.

http://techreport.com/discussions.x/16524

"AMD has decided to switch some of its older Radeons, from the 9000 series through the X1000 series, into what is calls "legacy" support status. The move means those GPUs will no longer be included in the monthly Catalyst graphics driver drops. Instead, for the time being, they'll receive driver updates (mainly centered on bug fixes) on a quarterly basis. "

Tech Report previously reported that AMD is moving the X1000 series and earlier GPUs to legacy support with quarterly updates. The last driver to support the X1000 was Cat 9.3 at the end of Q1. Quarterly updates implies that there should have been a driver update for the X1000 by the end of Q2, meaning Cat 9.6 should be available for the X1000 series and earlier. It is not. So either AMD's legacy support term has been misreported or AMD has lied.

Although technically AMD still has till the end of the month to release a version of Cat 9.6 for the X1000 series and earlier so perhaps there is hope yet.

Nothing to see here move along kids. The drivers are probably pretty mature at this point. 4870 is what a year old now ? A small gain here and there and a random bug fix are probably the only things we are going to see from here on out.

I don't see dropping support for older cards as being that big of deal. Most of them aren't going to play newer games very well if at all and most of the bugs for older games they do run well will have already been patched.

I thought that the recent anniversary should have triggered a hot fix for Tetris.

My x1950 has joined the ol' 9600 in legacy land. The price drop on the 487/50 tempts me. If only my wallet would comply!
