Okay, so the CPU doesn't require a fan, but how about the power supply!?
This is important! I know of NO PC that operates completely fanless...except for the imac now - shame the cube is no more. |

Jesus you Mac zealots, lighten up.
Is this a "performance PC"? No - and that was pointed out several times in the review. But in my opinion, for $250, it sounds like a great deal! |

I doubt a 1.1 GHz Celeron would 'outrun' a G4 450, it just wouldn't happen. Also, this case isn't really anything that special, as it's basically just a very short minitower made out of metal. The cube, despite its flaws truly was something different and well designed.

If you are going to compare this to the G4 Cube than at least understand how stupid you look. This thing is a piece of crap and all they did was shove components into a box. Apple actually had a design, not a tiny hunk of junk.

You PC lusers make me laugh. Seriously--you're trying to compare THIS POS to the PowerMac G4 Cube?! You've gotta be KIDDING me! It's a fucking metal case with ports on the back. Oh, and Scott "Brain-Damaged" Watson--get a fucking clue. Wintel machines have always been, and WILL ALWAYS BE inferior to ANY Macintosh.

Sorry, but this thing can't hold a candle to the G4 Cube. How do you open this thing up? Take out screws and pry the lid off? Oh how well designed!!! I am sure it will win an award for the sheer design like the G4 Cube! LMAO!!!! G4 Cube - flip it over, press on the handle and pull out the works = well designed. I say this is just another PC (Piece of Crap) in a smaller package...
And yes, I am a Mac fan and I think that there will never be a PC that looks as good or performs as well as a Mac (be it portable, desktop, consumer or pro). It's ok there is room over here in the light...come away from the dark power. ;-) |

I'm surprised by how clueless many of the posters here are. Yes, for those of us who crave performance at all costs a box like this necessitates too many compromises. Unfortunately, because it looks pretty cool.
But most people don't care about performance any more! A Celeron 700 is fast enough for just about anything most people use a computer for. So why not say "I've got enough performance, let's not worry about that any more; make the computer less obtrusive." I think it's a perfectly valid approach, and I would never criticize anyone for taking it. |

Okaaayyy, so this case just allows you to cram most of that into a cubish case. I think you're arguing in the wrong thread. People concerned with ergonomics are usually willing to sacrifice some performance and/or economy (obviously Apple sacrificed a wee bit too much of both ;^) ).

wow! Damage, could you please show us something that is even more useless than this "cube"?
i mean, i just built a PC for office use with SIS 735 DDR, Athlon 1GHz, Maxtor 30GB 7200 1/min, CD R/W, printer, monitor for ~ $1.000. this machine beats the hell outa this nonsense "cube". this whole cube thing is something for the marketing guys of some spezial companies. they seek their spezial users, and, well, they deserve what they get |

So are you afraid to dust off your coffee tables, end tables, shelving, etc? I'd hope not -- but maybe I'm missing the picture. I like the devices that I use to interface w/ the computer to be ergonomic, not the unit. You must've been frightened of the original Apple then as well, since those floppy drives were a little too pointy for your tastes.. sheesh whatever. And I don't know what no-name machine you're buying that would break in 1 1/2 years. I've still got machines I was using four and five years ago that still operate just fine. I'm not bashing apple, just the zealot. K? .02 |

To the mac-biased AG earlier. Pull your head out of your ass. Apple ergonomics? Top notch? Oh yeah. I remember the stupid puck mouse. Perfectly round, with no indication of which way was up. Too small for anybody but an oompa loompa to use.
And what was up with that fist low profile USB keyboard?! Anybody remember when Apple thought it would be a great idea to put the home row marks on the D and K keys, instead of the standard F & J? Listen, I'm a big fan of Apple. I own several, along with several PCs. But don't sit here spouting bullshit about Apple ergonomics. |

Poster #16 - thank you Sir!!!!!!! That 300HA (microAtx/flex Case) is exactly what I've been looking for for nearly a year!! - perfect (Small!). Now all I need is the next .13 p-3/k-7/C4X chip and to paint that sucker black (like my current mid-towers).
FAI - use only "engine block" enamel spray paint, acrilic will flake after a year of so of handling. That enamel will melt into the surface of the BEIGE colored plastic and is there for eternity ;-). Gotta paint your monitors too of course ;-) alot of work, but your system will match your home stereo/TV !! ;-) |

you have no idea how much seeing this thing pleases me ;-) finally, finally , FINALLY someone in the PC-world has gotten sick of HUGEASS-ugly beige boxes via the 1970's - and has offered soemthing with style (and yes even class). About bloody time - Christ what 20? years and the first non-box-behemeath?
I'd like to see some color next (and not cheesy plastic over BOX tripe, real colored cases with some curves on them (and not cheesy-gaudy curves - CLASSY curves)). Before this wonderful case - I've seen either 1. boring box 2. cheap-butt-ugly-geek-plastic-Mac-wannabe-puck-madeinChina-crap. Excellent to see creativity in the PC-world. Here to more BookEnd PC's with good quality videocards on the modos and for more FANLESS and QUIET PC's!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe we can finally leave the 1970's mainframe cases behind us and join the new century and start minturizig like all the other electronics in this universe of ours.. Again - great work Shuttle - congrats ;-) |

WHOA! How revolutionary!!! They took one of those cheap-looking beige metal towers, then have cut it out at 1/3 and stuffed the same crappy hardware in it. I could do the same at my home, buying a 700$ PC clone at some noname local store and transform it in order to make it look like a virtual resemblance to a G4 Cube, but only in the case that I would be enough stupid to buy a computer that would be out of date in six months, and would break in one year and a half.
And sorry, but the corners of that ugly beige cube look way too lethal for my personal safety, I would be even afraid to cut my hands just by trying to take clean the dust on it! Something that even the most loyal and brainless PC user will approve about Mac designs is the overall ergonomics of it, wich are top-notch. |
