So, are we going to get anything nice before Christmas? And I'm talking new stuff, not just speedbumped versions of existing stuff.

[q]Acknowledging that Paper launches are a reality to satisfy shareholders and keep your name in the press, I still gotta say that they suck. Only thing worse than when my computer company gets me all excited about a high performance chip and fails to deliver is when my wife states that she is in the mood and promptly falls asleep as soon as the kids go down. I dont know which is worse, blue balls or poor frame rate in online game due to old CPU.[/q]If those are my only choices, I'd be much happier dealing with paper launches :) |

B2 stepping? Is this a stepping beyond the "Tbred B" that was "launched"?

Doh! This probably means that Intel won't release Granite Bay until after X-mas. Not that I would have bought it but it's cool technology.

A gerbil with blue balls? ROFLMAO.
Say, Damage -- maybe you could offer the chip in exchange for a Mac. :P |

Dude, everyone does paper launches...EVERYONE. Ati does it, Nvidia does it, Intel does it too, and they do it all the time...and they will continue to do it in the future, because they can back them up with real hardware within a few weeks. Paper launches are meant to make shareholders happy, not us :)

It was totally a paper launch to keep the 2.8GHz P4 seeming that far ahead of AMD. Although these new TBreds are going to be very well received when they do show up, that much is sure. Especially with Barton and Hammer being pushed back even further. Anyway, just my two cents. |

Paper launches = bad. Paper launching has killed more than one company. No matter how far Intel is ahead in the Mhz race, to launch a product and not actually have a final version ready is just bad business IMO. Among other things, it hurts current sales since people are going to wait for the latest and greatest. While I'm not saying that AMD is going to go the way of Bitboys, they may want to make this the last paper launch
