BT's got the best file distribution network hands down. I think Overnet's "horde" thing is basically just a copy of it. Not sure if it's GNU or whatever, but anyways, it prevent leeching so that's good.

Valve should concentrate on getting the bloody game done first, then worry about distribution.

Is anyone else having problems with DThread view and firefox?

I wonder how big BitTorrent or Steam will get.. It was a little surprising when some high-profile download sites rolled out their proprietary P2P downloaders, now even more are making use of BitTorrent. I could see a company like Akamai taking interest in this.

Overnet came before BitTorrent, BTW. All such programs probably have a lot of ideas in common. If you google kademlia you'll get a lot of links to the research it (Overnet, at least) was based on. That's my understanding, anyway.

Yawn, 3D is getting to be very very tiresome. Time to bump it up with holographic projections, or better yet, a matrix!

Now all Valve needs to do is integrate Steam with outlook and they can take care of distribution and lea...err...beta testing all at once!

/tounge firmly in cheek, btw.

So does this mean Valve will begin to use our PCs to upload content to other users, or is BT just going to be used to distribute bandwidth among Valve's and its partners' servers?

I like Steam when it comes to picking servers and BSing with friends. For playing games, no way. I got bored one day and tried to play Opposing Force using Steam. It was severely laggy. Does Valve think that I am going to play a game like HL2 through Steam? They do, that is the scary part.

I normally use the 'Flat' mode and it looks fine with FireFox, I can try and see if it works using the 'Dthread'... what kind of errors should I look for specifically?.
